back-to-back clean: this refers to when one customer is leaving one day and a different customer is moving into the same accommodation on that particular day. In high season you will have many back-to-back's to do, as  customer turnover is very high.

beanies: little shelves used in courier tents to keep clothes and other possessions on.

booking charts: somewhat self-explanatory. They are about A3 sized calenders, which have the pitch numbers and types of accommodation on the left-hand side. At the top are the dates of the month and on the chart are lines showing when certain accommodation is occupied. It will most likely be your job to put the information from the daily faxes onto the booking charts when you are on reception duty. Don't worry it's not as complicated as it sounds.

courier Christmas: on many sites couriers will celebrate "Christmas" on the 25th June as it is 6 months before Christmas. This is an excuse to have a nice meal and a party and is just before the beginning of high season.

customer finds: the things customers have left behind when they leave. It could be food, drink, beach toys, or even a small tip. Share with your co-workers and they will do the same.

demontage (de-mo): dismantling campsites at the end of the camping season.

ECO: Emergency Call Out or Night Duty. This is where you stay in uniform until about 11pm; you may have to sit in reception as well. You must stay sober and deal with any late arrivals or problems customers may have.

EHIC: European Health Insurance Card (formerly E111).

inner: this is the "bedroom" of a tent.

live area: community of tents where couriers live.

montage: setting up the campsites at the start of the camping season

remourk: trolley we pull behind our bikes to move things around the campsite such as cleaning products, high chairs, and gas bottles.

rep: really a camping 'courier' - but Google Adsense doesn't like it - though we hate being called 'reps'!

R&M: stands for Repair and Maintenance: normally a couple who live on, or nearby the campsite. They will help with maintenance problems which occur in customer accommodation. They normally have to do this for several campsites however and so are only to be called when something complicated goes awry. For example calling them to change a gas bottle or a light bulb will not make you popular BUT if anything INSIDE the boiler goes wrong you should call them, as you will not be sufficiently gas trained to deal with this.

specials: these are the extra requirements customers may have: they will be written on the faxes and then transferred onto the booking chart. They include high chairs, travel cots, linen ... to name but a few and could also be a medical requirement such as needing to be near a wash block as they are elderly.

TPU: a tent power unit. This is a box that runs from the campsite's main electrics into a tent. It clips onto the tent pole and is used to power the lights and will have two continental sockets as well.
